Doll sized books: Craft post!

Hello, girls! This is Jan. In this post I'm going to show you how to make books for your dolls! :). They're really easy to make and take hardly any supplies. Lets get started.

What you'll need:
-a stapler
-a pen
-a stiff piece of paper (not construction paper, though. Here I'm using the back card from a pack of stamps my parents had, but card stock works well, too.)
-two pieces of thin paper
-a tape measure or ruler
-scissors

The stiff paper (this will be the cover) should be 3 inches high and 4 inches long.  Measure 4 inches long with a ruler or tape measure.

Put a small pen mark where the four inches was.

Cut off the excess.

This si the approxiamate size your cover sould now be.

Carefully fold it exactly in half.

With your pen, you can now write the title of your book, the author (if you want) and decorate.  This is my cover.

Now its time to work on the pages.  Take one of those thin papers, and measure the same size as the cover.  (4 inches long and 3 inches high).  Make a pen mark, like before, and cut the pages the right size.  Then fold it exactly in half.

Draw 'neat scribbles' in lines on the pages.  I usually fit about five lines per page.

Then, on the inside pages,do the same thing.  And on the back page too.

So now we have a cover and one set of pages.

Make another set of pages exactly the same as the first.  This is what the inside of the pages should look like.

And the back.

So we now have a cover and two sets of pages.  Sorry for the upside down photo.

Put a set of pages inside the cover.

Then open the set of pages and set the second set of pages in it.

Now staple the book together.  But put the staple very close to the edge.   I usually hold the book together while stapling, but I had to take the picture.  :)

This is what the finished book should look like.

A propped up book.

For size: Here's Helen with her new book: A Little Princess.  I hope you liked this craft post!  :)   If any of you make a book, I'd love to see a photo!
